SIPs Panel project

Castell Bach Engineering Ltd. were engaged by the Client, Ecosips Developments Ltd. to assist them in their recent fast track SIPs project. The construction of a Bungalow in Meidrim, Camarthen.

Ecosips Development Ltd.'s fast construction time highlights the benefits that SIPs can have over more traditional construction methods. It took less than 4 days from delivery of panels, to when roof trusses were being lifted into position!

Castell Bach Engineering Ltd. provided all the design calculations to satisfy building regulations and to prove the building was structurally sound. The SIPs panels prove to be a strong, versatile construction material which we're sure will continue to gain in popularity in the domestic and commercial markets.

What are SIPs?

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are a High Performance building system leading the way in the construction industry. Providing many benefits over a traditional build. The structure of the panels makes them exceptionally strong, whilst largely compromising of lighweight insulation. A SIP consists of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically OSB.

The panels are a very flexible product and can be used with any external cladding, be it brick, render, weatherboarding or metal cladding. Likewise, they can also be roofed in a number of different methods like slates, tiles or metal roofing.

The way in which the panels are used, means structures can be erected in faster times compared with more traditional methods. Lower construction times with fewer people on site leads to cheaper, faster and safer construction projects.
